New Year’s Eve Couture

4 Ways to Stay True to Your Style

Searching for the perfect outfit to greet the new year? Still haven’t decided whether it’s worth to splurge on a new dress, which you will just hang in your wardrobe after that special night and never put on again? I have a few suggestions to take the heat off and keep your conscience carefree!

If you really want to be one of a kind and stand out from the crowd, while being true to your style and having a piece for the long term that you can proudly wear even after the New Year’s Eve party is over these are my advises:

#1 Invest in vintage high-end luxury pieces

When it comes to parties the 20’s are always in style! Tracking down good condition vintage items can be a pain in the ass but really rewarding. Owning a vintage Chanel Boutique or Chloé from some of the first creations of Karl Lagerfeld you sure will look classy, stylish and one of a kind while everyone around you will be wearing fast fashion items that pretty much look alike or are even a copy of or inspired by your vintage piece. Original Lilli Diamond would make you feel like a movie star- sexy and glamorous. I just can’t stop going through the 1970’s Halston dresses as they are very much is style right now. You will definitely be the star of the night, if you bet on these models. The good thing about a clothing of value is that you can always put it up for sale on the market and get your money back. Although, I would think twice! Getting your hands on actual good vintage pieces is not easy and it is no secret these clothes were made to last, unlike the ones we can find in the stores today.

#2 Christmas vintage shopping

As high-end vintage clothes can be very pricy, the next best option can be to go hunting for undiscovered pieces at your neighbourhood vintage shop. Be on the look for any vintage Christmas pop up events! Invite you bestie and make a day out of it. What’s better than treasure hunting with good company?

The tech version of this would be inviting your bestie for coffee/ wine and fishing online for new vintage gems, while staying warm and cosy at home.

#3 Statement piece

Instead of piling more clothes, how about getting something that will get all eyes on you. If you look, I’m sure you have plenty of clothes perfect for the occasion- from evening dresses, jumpsuit, skirts, tops… All you need is a statement piece to bring out an entirely new look. Maybe a new pair of shoes, a bag you will keep on using for years to come or some great jewellery in Kenneth Jay Lane’s style. Why not?

#4 Couture for you

Feeling crafty? You can find great patterns online, which will definitely save you some money. You can get some great ideas and patterns from Burda, Marfy or even on Pinterest. The great thing about making your own clothing is that it gives you so much freedom. You can choose your own colours, fabric, length and you will get exactly what you want and it will fit perfectly. If you are not in a sewing mood, you can always get your fabric and pattern and take it to a tailor. This way you will know the quality of the materials and it will be made by your measurements. As Italians say su messura, which is more than the clothing fitting on you, it’s a lifestyle!

Knowing what shape, size or colour you are feeling right now and is good for you, and taking care of your clothes will take care of you and shine through an effortless style. Let this New Year’s Eve outfit be as unforgettable as the night itself! 🥂 Happy New Year!

Stay stylish!

Yours,

MK ❤

P.S. If you need more inspiration, I’ve always loved Jennifer Aniston’s style on and off camera, casual or formal.
